Isaiah 40:28-31 and Psalm 84
We often feel as though we stand on shifting sands; the world unfixed, strange, dangerous. With time our internal self changes as we age and as we learn and experience. The external world changes even more and often in ways that seem beyond our ability to understand, effect or control. Through our lives the world grows stranger, the patterns of life and death more complicated. But God announces to every generation that He is here and present, ready to offer us His house as a place of refuge or of rejoicing. He offers us His strength not just to deal with the stress, anxieties and sorrows of this world but to soar as eagles beyond them so as to better see, comprehend and be in union with Him and His creation. This promise of refuge, joy, strength and revelation made clear in the psalms and Isaiah was amplified by God through Christ life, death on the cross and resurrection. The arch of Christ’s life is the final seal and affirmation of God’s love and of His eternal promise of his presence in our lives for all those who seek him.
